Australian Diver Attacked By Sharks
In a news report from ITN news today, a fish diver has been reported missing after an attack by two sharks in Southern Australia. The attack happened as the diver, named as Peter Clarkson, 49, was surfacing from a dive that involved fishing for Abalones, a type of large sea snail which are a sea food delicacy.
The attack was witnessed by the skipper of the boat who was in charge of recovering the diver and has since received treatment for shock. It is suspected that the two sharks were Great Whites who are well known predators in this area of Australian waters. Great White sharks are fearsome hunters who can grow up to 6m in length and weigh up to two tonnes.
In a statement from a member of the police department in charge of the search Sergeant Mick Walsh said: “He is presumed dead however we will continue searching until proven otherwise.”
